Essential Oils

1. Artemisia annua
Artemisia annua, known as Sweet Annie, is highly anti-inflammatory, helping to reduce muscle pain. It is also strongly anti-microbial, making it effective against bacteria, fungi and viruses. Other uses include as a digestive aid and to address insomnia. Studies have shown Artemisia annua, because of its primary compound artemisinin, to be effective in fighting malaria. Other studies suggest that artemisinin may have potential anti-cancer properties.

Artemisia annua has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2000 years to treat fevers and malaria. The Chinese scientist who identified the active compound mentioned above, artemisinin, received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015. Spiritually, Artemisia is believed to enhance dream experiences and facilitate channeling.
Regular Price: 15 ml $32; 120 ml $224

(Sale Price: 15ml $19; 120ml $134)

2. Eucalyptus masala (Wild)

This essential oil represents one of Wisdom of the Earth's key differences in the world of aromatherapy....many of our oils come from individual farmers across the globe, including this one. Eucalyptus masala was brought to us by our Nepalese producer, as he shared with us how effective this particular variety is against the more serious respiratory conditions such as bronchitis.

It is definitely one of the stronger Eucalyptus oils we carry. It is excellent in steam inhalations, when combined with an oil like Fir, Douglas (see below), as well as topical application behind the ears. This application technique really opens up the breathing passages!

This eucalyptus is also excellent for pain relief, and as a powerful decongestant. Using this oil in a diffuser helps to remove bacteria and viruses from the environment, and also provides a refreshing, uplifting aroma.

Emotionally, Eucalyptus is associated with renewal and new beginnings, helping to release old patterns and stagnant energy.

Regular Price: 15 ml $25; 120 ml $175

(Sale Price: 15ml $15; 120ml $105)

3. Fir Douglas (Albania) (Organic) Pseudotsuga menziesii

Another cold and flu season hero, this beautiful oil is effective against bacteria and fungi. It supports the healing of respiratory conditions like coughs, bronchitis and colds. Just the aroma of this familiar conifer can bring down your stress level and bring a sense of clarity and calm to the Central Nervous System. Great, obviously, for the diffuser, as well as topical application. When used before bed, that sense of calm eases one into a restful sleep.

Emotionally and spiritually, Douglas Fir is known as a protector...offering an energetic barrier against negative energy and disruptive environments. This is a great oil for anointing yourself with a drop or two over the heart or the base of the spine before going into situations where a clear mind and focused resolve are important. Native Americans have used the needles of this tree for centuries making poultices and teas for treating wounds and respiratory issues.

At Wisdom of the Earth, we understand and teach that different plant parts have different medicinal uses. We value education regarding essential oils and plant medicine, whether it is centuries old or a new discovery being reported in the research journals. The needles or leaves of trees are the breathing apparatus of the tree...and thus support the breathing process of the human. Thus oils make from needles or leaves have great value for respiratory support.
Regular Price: 15 ml $42; 120 ml $294

(Sale Price: 15ml $25; 120ml $220)

4. Fir Needle, Siberian (WIld) Abies sibirica

This beautiful essential oil is excellent for pain due to muscle aches and arthritis. Like all conifers, Siberian Fir Needle works wonders for respiratory issues, and can be effectively used in steam inhalations to clear the sinus passages. It can be applied topically to the chest, behind the ears and on the throat to ease congestion and sore throat pain.

Siberian Fir Needle is also a detoxifier, and for this purpose, application to the soles (bottoms) of the feet is recommended. It is grounding and centering, and provides mental clarity and energy as well as a sense of calm. The tree has been a symbol of strength, resilience and focus since ancient times, and has been used by indigenous peoples for bringing clarity in times of decision-making and for introspection. This oil has the ability to deepen our connection to nature and promote inner harmony.
Regular Price: 15 ml $31; 120 ml $217

(Sale Price: 15ml $18; 120ml $130)

5. Lavandin, Sumian Lavendula x intermedia sumian

Lavandins are a botanical hybrid, a cross between lavandula angustifolia and lavandula latifolia. This particular variety has wonderful anti-bacterial, anti-spasmodic and anti-septic properties. It is effective on sunburn and other milder cases of burns. It is known for its calming properties in humans and animals (I have seen it work wonders on dogs who are anxious) and I also find it particularly helpful for sound sleep. I apply it over the heart or on the crown chakra right before bed.

Lavandin sumian is another essence that brings a sense of harmony to a troubled mind or heart, and offers a deeper connection to self and the surrounding world. It would work beautifully layered with the Siberian Fir Needle for this purpose.

Regular Price: 15 ml $23; 120 ml $161

(Sale Price: 15ml 14; 120ml $96)

6. Litsea cubeba

This little-known essential oil, also called May Chang, is an excellent choice to use in diffusers due to her antimicrobial properties, clean, "lemony" aroma and cost-effectiveness. Litsea also promotes a sense of emotional well-being and greater focus and clarity. This essential oil helps regulate sebum production in oily skin and can address fungal and bacterial infections of the nails and skin.

Though a powerful healer, Litsea cubeba is better known in the perfume and soap industries, due to her lower cost and beautiful aroma. So this makes Litsea a perfect choice for those making products...soaps, candles, creams & salves...because you are getting the benefit of effective healing properties, the potency of a pure oil, and the cost-benefit of a lack of general knowledge about her.

One final point of interest about Litsea cubeba...it is said that her common name, May Chang, means "Angel Caller" in Southeast Asia, as they believed her lovely aroma called forth angelic connection and protection.
Regular Price: 15 ml $25; 120 ml $175

(Sale Price: 15ml $15; 120ml $105)

7. Ravintsara Cinnamomum camphora

This essential oil is a mainstay for cold and flu season. Topical application or steam inhalation...both are highly effective to relieve congestion and coughing, Her sister, Ravensara, is more well-known in the world of aromatherapy, but some consider Ravintsara to be more highly anti-viral. They are different plants, with Ravansara categorized as Ravensara aromatica, but are both known for their respiratory support.

Due to its α-Terpineol content, which gives the oil a slightly floral undertone, we know that Ravintsara has a calming effect. This is a great one to use in a diffuser for both its antimicrobial properties, but also its ability to sooth one's emotions and create a peaceful, healthy environment .

Spiritually, Ravintsara is viewed as an essence that can clear a space of negativity and bring a positive energy in its place. Native to Madagascar, it was considered helpful to relieve the pain of physical and emotional trauma, and was seen as a symbol of Nature's ability to provide healing aid to humans.

Regular Price: 15 ml $37; 120 ml $259

(Sale Price: 15ml 22; 120ml $155)

8. Sugandha kokila (Wild/Organic) Cinnamomum glaucescens

This is another oil rarely offered in the US, as our farmer in Nepal is the one who enlightened us on her amazing properties! This beautiful essence, also known as White Cinnamon, has the powerful properties of Cinnamon, but none of the heat. It is gentle on the skin but has great anti-viral medicinal benefits. Sugandha (pronounced Su-gand-ha, and translated from the Sanskrit as "fragrant") is also great for cardiac support...I layer her with Green Cardamom or Ylang Ylang for heart health.

Sugandha is a natural anti-inflammatory, and eases aches and pains, while also providing a wonderful boost to the immune system. When used on a daily basis, Sugandha helps fight off infections and respiratory conditions.

Regular Price: 15 ml $33; 120 $231

(Sale Price: 15ml $20; 120ml $138)

Nut & Seed Oil

1. Rose Hip Seed Oil (Regular) Rosa rubiginosa

This is a great opportunity to get a reduced price on our beautiful Rose Hip Seed Oil (the regular type, with all of the colored seeds, compared to the Lycotop type we offered before, with just the red seeds pressed, to increase the amount of lycopene in the oil).

One of the most coveted oils in the world because of its beneficial effects on the skin, whatever your age, this is a key component of almost any facial product. The constituents of Vitamin A and Vitamin C help in collagen building, which addresses fine lines and wrinkles.

The essential fatty acids keep the skin moisturized and supple, and the oil's regenerative properties heal wounds and reduce scarring from stretch marks and acne. The antioxidants contained in Rose Hip Seed Oil can help prevent and also repair sun damage to the skin.

Rose Hip Seed oil is associated with the Heart Chakra, and helps to open oneself to a deeper connection to the Divine. Its ability to induce a sense of tranquility makes it a natural partner for meditative practice, inviting in inner peace and guidance from your higher self. Because of the reputation of the nut and seed oils for their healing benefits for the skin, they are often overlooked for their spiritual or emotional aspects. Don't let this aspect of Rose Hip Seed pass you by!

Regular Price: 15 ml $30; 120 ml (4 oz) $210

(Sale Price: 15ml $18; 120ml $126)

Hydrolat
1. Yarrow, Blue Achillea millefolium

Blue Harrow Hydrolat is known for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which which make it effective for soothing skin irritations such as acne, eczema and psoriasis.

Any oil or hydrolat that has a significant amount of the constituent chamazulene (which bestows its distinctive blue coloration) tends to have calming and soothing effects. It also helps to prevent infections.

Blue Yarrow hydrolat is traditionally viewed as having protective properties, helping to shield against negative energies and influences. It is said that the Yarrow herb is named after Achilles, a figure in Greek mythology who reputedly used the herb during the Trojan War.
